It is a ground stabilization technique used to reinforce strengthen existing earth. This soil nailing process uses steel tendons which are drilled downward (15 to 30) degree grouted into the soil to create a composite mass similar to a gravity wall. It is first applied in 1972 for railway road widening project. In Nepal, very useful in excavation support, support of hill cuts, bridge abutments, highways, tunnels, wall protection work.
